Welcome to Fowler!
My name is Jo Barendse and I was born and raised in Oregon. I graduated from Western Oregon University with my bachelor’s degree, from Lewis and Clark with my master’s degree, and George Fox University with my administrative certification. I have three wonderful children, two of whom are graduated from college, and one who is a junior at University of San Diego. I am very excited to be working at Fowler this year teaching EdTech. Before working at Fowler, I have spent time in the Tigard-Tualatin district teaching technology, 3rd,4th, and 5th grade classroom, P.E., Music, ceramics, as well as many other subjects. I am looking forward to teaching some fun after school activities as well this year. Outside of Fowler, I teach driver’s education and swimming lessons. I do custom sewing for many people as well. My biggest project so far has been recovering a sectional sofa for someone’s beach house. I love all things outdoors and especially enjoy water sports. I am a certified scuba diver divemaster and just completed my 110th dive. Of course, I prefer diving in the warm ocean, so this requires that I do some traveling to warm waters. I hope to do more traveling in the future. I am truly looking forward to this school year with the Fowler Falcons and will enjoy learning from you as well. Feel free to contact me via email.
